I got my very own zoom boom to move around the scene with the camera. It was amazing to watch so much weight being moved with such precision. Beginning of Pittsburg Civic Center, CA
• Steel and Glass. Buildings created and built by Tiburon architect Fani Danadjieva Hansen. Its been an honor to photograph her projects, and an inspiration to watch her big vision take shape, whether a community civic center or a private home. This public building, in Pittsburg CA, is now well loved by the residents and local government employees. Its a source of pride for the community, who were in need of a landmark and image lift. • Green house, energy neutral, in Mill Valley by architect Fani Danadjieva Hansen. Lots of glass, lots of light.
• LIGHT, GLASS, AND STEEL The photo needs to look naturally lit and show that lovely sunshine slanting into the space, but is far from it. Strobe fill, out of huge umbrellas, does the job. No, you can't do it with speed lights.
• Hands on in Pittsburg, I got a chance to photograph the entire process, from the ground up.
• Top floor atrium adds light and space between council chambers and offices. Fabric collage tapestries by Hellen Weber are an interesting juxtaposition against the steel.

• Got to get one of my very own.
• Fani is at every part of her projects creation. From the early planning commission meetings, through each phase of construction.
• Ducting doesn't need to be boring, but it took quite a bit of fill light to show off her innovative color scheme.
• The city council meetings are now well lit and transparent.
• This architectural view has a great mood, and shows the building, the hard glass and steel, in a warm afternoon light surrounded by trees and softened by the landscaping. Of course the photographer needs to have "clean" shots of the buildings for other purposes, but don't forget mood shots. Lots of effort by the designer/architect went into the relationship of the building in its environment.

• The Mill Valley/Larkspur home again. The rock garden which tumbles down the hill in front of the property, gave me a chance to make a vertical photo. Always good to have something for a magazine cover, so we shoot horizontal and vertical whenever possible. and yes that is my oblique side lighting in the rocks and iceplant, coming from the same direction as western sky. Interior house lights balance nicely with exterior.
• It was fun to fill light against the late afternoon sun, which we see making shadows from the west. this living room and grounds has the best view of Mt Tamalpais anywhere.
• This site was made to order, framed by ancient oaks. Whats outside and whats inside? Many ways to configure the space and the glass walls, allowing the mountains to come right inside the home.
• Infinity pool when looking at the mountains, but the pool still made an interesting shape from ground level to compliment the house. Wetting down the concrete edge gave us some nice reflections too.
• Looking north, shows a different shape to the house, which here has two stories.
